The Stavros Niarchos Park at the SNFCC was awarded the first European Garden Prize 2018 / 2019 in the category of innovative, modern park or garden design at a ceremony held on 7 September in Schloss Nordkirchen in Germany.

The European Garden Award 2018/2019 is an international recognition and a special award for the Stavros Niarchos due to the fact that this is the inaugural time that a Greek park is awarded. The award was received on behalf of the SNFCC by Nicholas Yatromanolakis, CMO of the SNFCC and Deborah Nevins and Helli Pangalou, designers of the Park that were awarded for their innovative design and the implementation of sophisticated systems combined with the use of local mediterranean plants.

Among other parks and gardens that were awarded at European Garden Award 2018/2019 are  Kew Gardens in London, the Parkstadt Süd project in Cologne, Ninfa garden in Italy, Kasteeltuinen Arcen in Holland and Spreewald Biosphere Reserve in Germany.

The design and construction of the Stavros Niarchos Park as an open, public space, welcoming and accessible to everyone, with serious considerations about the sustainability and protection of its environment, is the result of the vision of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for the design and development of the SNFCC and was made possible through the exclusive donation of the SNF.
