This winter at the SNFCC, we discover the technique of xylography. The xylography workshop aims to bring the public in touch with the broader technique of relief printmaking, its methods and its historical context. Each session is a self-contained workshop, exploring a different technique (engraving on rubber/linoleum/woodblock; black-and-white/color printing) in successive thematic units.
Our meetings with the Open Farm team at the SNFCC’s Vegetable Garden continue in the winter. We care for our winter garden and make seed bombs and herb salt!
Following last fall’s successful series of workshops, titled “Creating relief maps,” a new series of workshops will be held starting in January, this time around calling upon participants to translate in three dimensions topographical and plastic elements of caves. At the end of the series, participants will create their own unique relief model, aided by notes on topography and relief rendering that will be provided to them.
In January, a new series of workshops begins at the SNFCC in which young and old, using their imagination, will create unique figures inspired by three important artists - Alexander Girard, Geoffrey Farmer and Rowan McGregor.
