LEA Ibero-American Literature Festival in Athens was established in 2008 to promote intercultural dialogue between Greece and the countries of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.

 

Opening Ceremony | 19.00 – 19.30

LEA’s opening ceremony is held at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center for a third consecutive year. Renowned Greek author Petros Markaris, LEA Festival’s Honorary President, will deliver the welcome address, followed by addresses by the Ambassador of Panama and Dean of GRULAC's ambassador group of Latin American and Caribbean countries, the Ambassador of Spain, the Ambassador of Portugal, also representing Brazil, as well as representatives of Maria Tsakos Foundation, Cervantes Institute, Abanico Language School and LEA Festival.

Jorge Luis Borges as Seen by Maria Kodama | 19.30 – 20.30

Writer and translator Maria Kodama was the second wife of Jorge Luis Borges, the most universally acclaimed Argentinian writer. She is the founder and president of the Jorge Luis Borges International Foundation, whose mission is to protect and promote the author’s work. In the 11th LEA Festival, Maria Kodama talks with Greek journalist Manolis Pimplis about the literary universe of the great Latin American author.

Under the auspices of the Embassy of Argentina in Athens; in collaboration with Maria Tsakos Foundation and the Cervantes Institute in Athens.
