Our first guests are two distinctive artists with a long musical career. On Saturday, June 5, at 21:00, the acclaimed jazz guitarist and composer Takis Barberis and the living legend of the clarinet Petroloucas Chalkias join forces in a concert that promises to be unforgettable. 26 years after their first official collaboration on Takis Barberis’ record Episodes, the two virtuosos will explore the many places where jazz and Greek traditional music meet. Two ostensibly incongruous musical genres that, nonetheless, bear many similarities in their scales, rhythms, and the intimacy of their improvisations.
On Friday 18/06, at 21:00, Fotis Siotas and Nefeli Fasouli take their turn on the stage. Two artists with a shared view of the past of Greek songwriting and a joint creative vision for its future come together to present two separate programs, each introducing us to their own, unique world.
On Thursday, July 1, at 21:00, a group of handpicked musicians welcomes the SNFCC’s audience with “Jasmine Tea” and a meeting of musical nostalgia with a contemporary perspective. A varied musical tribute to Arleta, with selected songs from her own discography, as well as some by her favorite composers, such as Manos Hadjidakis, Giannis Spanos and Lakis Papadopoulos.
On Thursday July 15, at 21:00, the sounds of David Lynch, Stavros Lantzias and Giotis Kiourtsoglou resonate perfectly with the jubilant mood of the summer, as the much-loved band brings back the meaning of “live” in the true sense of the word. The concerts at the Panoramic Steps of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center continue, quenching our thirst for live events and music, with all necessary protection measures in place so we can all enjoy them safely.
The summer continues with exciting live shows in the Parklife concert series, which brings music to the Panoramic Steps of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
On Thursday, July 22, at 21:00, Ta Paidia tis Palaiotitas & Paidi Thavma
On Thursday, July 29, at 21:00, Sophie Lies and Danai Nielsen, two representatives of the new generation of singers, ascend to the Panoramic Steps to present songs old and new, drawing the audience into a mood for experimentation and communication. Shortly after the release of “Recycled Feelings (club remix)”, Danai Nielsen brings her dream pop vision to the stage, creating musical dialogues between her female and male alter egos. At the same time, Sophie Lies meanders into maturity with sweet melodies, simple orchestrations and a versatile sound, and the support of her three-piece band.
On Thursday, September 2, at 21:00, Whereswilder turn up the volume with neo-psychedelic sounds and old-school melodies from a broad rock music spectrum. In a stripped down setlist especially adapted for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s Parklife concert series, the Athenian band will present songs from their upcoming third record, created, as they describe it themselves, in the logic of “all killer-no filler”, alongside favorites from their earlier releases.
On Saturday, September 11, at 21:00, the beloved Locomondo band is putting on a wild and free on-stage party. Employing reggae, ska, latin, rock and traditional Greek rhythms and tunes, Locomondo have been doing, for 18 years now, what they know they do better than anyone else: turning the audience into one big group of friends. Summery dance songs, engaging atmosphere and happy smiles are some of the ingredients that turn their live performances into a unique experience for everyone present. At their concert at the SNFCC, their great hits from the past along with new productions will pave the way for properly ringing in the new season!
