Prompted by the outdoor exhibition that is dedicated to the work of artist Alex Mylona and presented at the Esplanade of the Cultural Centre, a workshop will be held for children and young teens, in which they are invited to create three-dimensional compositions inspired by two elements of the artist’s work: constructing a piece that acts as an extension of their body, and simultaneously a model of a sculpture that could work on an oversized scale. “An artist is expressing herself, and this is visible in her work” — Alex Mylona
Taking our cue from the outdoor exhibition that is dedicated to the work of artist Alex Mylona and presented at the Esplanade of the Cultural Centre, we invite adults and children to an open-flow visual arts game. During the first part of the activity, participants are called upon to observe Alex Mylona’s works, and then to reconstruct, much like jigsaw puzzles, shapes that are inspired by the forms used by the artist, creating their own small-sized sculpture.
Drawing inspiration from the sculptural works of artist Alex Mylona, we use the medium of papercut as an ongoing creative process. We convert two-dimensional paper surfaces into interwoven three-dimensional forms.
Spring and summer flowerbeds are flooded with flowering plants that mark the change of season. Many of these are propagated by bulb, having the ability to germinate for many years. In this adult gardening workshop we will learn how to plant, propagate and take care of some important bulbous flowering plants so that they will adorn our flower beds and pots. We will work on plants such as gladiolus, irises, anemones and at the end of the workshop participants will take home a plant pot. For adults Sunday 14/04, 12/05, 09/06
