During the exhibition George Zongolopoulos: The Vision of Public Sculpture, SNFCC is hosting an open discussion, featuring Giorgos Houliaras, sculptor, former Vice-Rector, Athens School of Fine Arts, and the exhibition co-curator, Angelos Moretis, director, George Zongolopoulos Foundation; they will talk about sculpture in public space.
The oeuvre of Zongolopoulos – a major proponent of public art – encourages us to rethink our role as citizens and our relationship with the perception of “public” as a cultural notion.
As part of the open discussion, the maquette of the Zongolopoulos sculpture Umbrellas that was placed in Brussells in 1995, will be presented for the first time at the SNFCC.
