In April, we are launching a new collaboration with the Greek National Gallery, in the context of our off-the-premises activities for SNFCC Members. Our first guided tour of the National Gallery on the theme “Love in the City” takes us back to a time when men and women of Athens met in drive-in theaters and coffee shops, men serenaded women, and couples took walks around Athens by night. Together, we tour the highways and back alleys of the temporary exhibition of the National Gallery titled Urbanography: The Life of the City in the 1950s–1970s, curated by National Gallery Director Syrago Tsiara. Through the works featured in the exhibition, we explore artistic and cinematic representations of love life in the city during the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, which translate the urban experience into collective visual memory.
