Εικαστικό Κέντημα: Σπουδαίες προσωπικότητες - Ιούνιος - Εικόνα

On the occasion of 2021, a landmark year for Greece, the creative embroidery workshop draws its inspiration from people whose actions and work changed the course of history and left an indelible mark upon our society.

We will embroider personalities from the realms of science, politics, literature and the arts. Beginning from the materials and preparatory work required to get started with embroidery, we will move on to learning the basic techniques that we will use in order to complete our handiwork. The purpose of the workshop is to initiate each participant into the creative world of embroidery, and to have them create, by the end of the workshop, their own embroidery of an historical figure.

The workshop is suitable for complete beginners, as well as for those who would like to try embroidering something new.

In May, we will pay tribute to one of the leading artists of the twentieth century, the Mexican Frieda Kahlo. Through her painting, which was influenced by various art movements, she explored concepts such as identity and gender and many other issues that are still pertinent in the present day. She used the hardships and problems she faced as inspiration in her work, transforming, in her unique way, her pain into bright colors on the canvas. Frida Kahlo is a global figure of inspiration, not only for her art, but for her advocacy of women’s right and freedom of expression.
