Sunday 22 May 2022
Music Escapades, the concert series dedicated to the latest trends in the Greek alternative scene, are back at the outdoor areas of the SNFCC, launching this summer’s concert program.
On Sunday, May 22, at 21:00, Maria Papageorgiou and five more musicians are setting up a unique concert at the Panoramic Steps of the Culture Center. The well-known performer rings in the summer with songs of her own, recent releases by some of her younger colleagues, and precious moments from the Greek art and traditional music, all of which blend harmoniously in a fascinating show full of surprises.
Maria Papageorgiou lives in Athens and is a musician and vocal coach. She interprets, composes and arranges performances in a completely personal artistic style, attracting an ever-growing and loyal audience. She has released solo albums, participated in albums of other musicians and, at a high point of her hitherto career, worked with Mikis Theodorakis in creating the album Allilografia [Correspondence], following the composer’s proposition that she rethink ten of his songs. In spring 2020, amidst the pandemic, she digitally released the album ESORiA, featuring seven pieces of the international repertoire. She has composed orchestral themes for short films; she is a performer at Apostolia Papadamaki’s Quasi Stellar dance theater; and she recently worked as a radio producer for the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation’s Second Program, presenting the show “The Songs of Others.”
