Jazz Chronicles Petros Klampanis Orchestrette - Εικόνα

In an intimate, chamber-music concert setting at the Lighthouse, Petros Klampanis presents his own compositions from across his discography, as well as covers of some of his favorite tunes – from jazz standards and indie to Greek traditional music – accompanied by a string sextet.

Petros Klampanis grew up in Greece and was influenced by Mediterranean traditions and the music of the Balkans. All these influences merge in unexpected ways in his compositions. He studied music in Athens and Amsterdam; in recent years, he has been living and working in New York.

His latest album, Chroma, released by Motema records, was awarded as the best Live album of 2017, by the Independent Music Awards and was featured in major international radio and press outlets including WBGO, FIP (French Public Radio), TSF (acclaimed radio station in France), ‘Jazz' magazine, DownBeat and JazzTimes. He is currently producing his 4th album and touring with his "Petros Klampanis Trio” in the US, Canada, EU and Japan.

In addition to historic venues, including the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Kennedy Center in Washington, he has performed at at the internationally acclaimed Jazzahead Festival in Bremen, XJazz Festival in Berlin, the North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands) and Palatia Jazz Festival (Germany). In 2015, he was voted "Best Jazz Artist" in Greece by jazzonline.gr, and his album Minor Dispute was ranked among the best jazz albums by U.S. National Public Radio (NPR).
