The “Journey to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center” continues in additional Municipalities across Attica, through the open participation of the public in free cultural and educational events held as part of the program of the same name.

The main purpose of the program is to introduce the citizens to the SNFCC and its philosophy, as well as to create a fresh culture which will enable the country’s citizens to openly engage with the project that’s due to transform the cultural map of Attica and Greece. The next stops of the “Journey to the SNFCC” program are the Municipalities of Saronikos, Spata-Artemida, Mandra-Eidyllia, Koropi and Nikaia-Rentis, which will host, between May 30th and June 15th, a series of open events, giving citizens a first taste of the services that will be offered by the SNFCC in approximately two years’ time: open access to Education and the Arts, and the promotion of urban green spaces.

Opera in a Suitcase performances by the Greek National Opera at the Municipalities of Saronikos and Spata-Artemida

The Greek National Opera (GNO), continuing its successful Opera in a Suitcase performances as part of the program, will be visiting the Municipalities of Saronikos and Spata-Artemida. In particular, on May 30th, at 8 pm, at the Amphitheater of the Town Hall in Kalyvia, the citizens of Saronikos will have the opportunity to enjoy Mozart’s Don Giovanni, in the form of “Opera in a Suitcase”, under the direction of Alexandros Efkleidis. This is a flexible and lively opera production, presented in unexpected venues, outside of traditional theaters, with piano accompaniment and featuring the GNO’s acclaimed protagonists. The same show will be presented on the June 1st, at 8 pm, at the “Christos Bekas” Cultural Center, in Spata. For the audience’s convenience, priority tickets will be issued an hour before the start of the show.

Organized guided tours to the SNFCC Visitors Center and construction site

The participation of the Municipalities of Mandra-Eidyllia, Koropi, Nikaia-Rentis and Saronikos in the “Journey to the SNFCC” program also includes bringing citizens in direct contact with the project itself, through four guided tours of the SNFCC Visitors Center and construction site: the guided tour for citizens of Mandra will take place on May 31st, for citizens of Koropi on June 1st, for citizens of Nikaia on June 14th, and for citizens of Saronikos on June 15th. There, the public will have the opportunity to tour the site that will soon be “flooded” with music, books and open green spaces, and see for themselves the designs for this major project, and the progress of the works. Those wishing to take part in the tours must register at their local Municipal Library.

The “Journey to the SNFCC” Program is carried out by the SNFCC in conjunction with the GNO, the NLGFuture Library and WWF Greece, through an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
