In December 2016, the UN General Assembly designated 18 June as an international observance of Sustainable Gastronomy Day. The decision acknowledges sustainable gastronomy as a link in the chain towards Sustainable Development Goals achievement. Agricultural development, sustainable food production, food security and conservation of biodiversity are four of the main characteristics promoted by sustainable gastronomy, since its promotion interlink with environmental, social, and financial benefits. Taking this day as an occasion, SNFCC Membership Programme has a discourse with Thanos Feskos and George Papazacharias, both chefs at Delta, SNFCC’s new restaurant, soon expected to open its doors to public.
It is with great pleasure that we invite SNFCC Members on Tuesday 22/06 to an exclusive sneak peek to the major exhibition of iconic sculptures by the internationally-acclaimed visual artist Takis (Panayiotis Vassilakis, 1925–2019). The exhibition, staged at the SNFCC in collaboration with the Takis Foundation – Research Center for the art & the sciences will introduce Takis to a new generation, as well as providing those already familiar with his work with a fresh perspective on its significance through the presence of 46 representative works by the leading Greek artist in the public spaces of the SNFCC.
Following lockdown’s inactivity, we gradually reach the moment of returning to movement, while diving into summer that is finally here. This session for “Planning a New Normal - Solutions & Challenges” in daily life is a 90 min. conversation with interactive exercises, targeting those who wish to share experience and solutions achieved during the Covid era, to communicate, and discuss with us. We take action, relying on what really works for us personally, we share and draw inspiration from our thoughts and experiences gained during the pandeminc, and we move -why not- towards change.
A series of meetings entitled “An Introduction to Takis’ Solar Yoga”, an exercise invented by Takis and presented to the public for the first time, will be taking place this summer in the Stavros Niarchos Park in parallel with the Takis exhibition at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. The first meeting is dedicated to SNFCC Members. “Takis’ Solar Yoga” is a breathing exercise in which solar energy is inhaled then diffuses through the body. Inspired by Ancient Egypt in the reign of Akhenaton, Takis conceived it as a way to link the human body with the sun and its energy.
From June, the presence of SNFCC on the digital platform Spotify comes to frame its varied programming of events, with playlists inspired by music, art, educational and sports activities.
