March arrives at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), and we invite you to welcome spring with music, dance, sports, lectures and exciting new experiences for all ages, familiar favorites as well as new activities and events.

This month, however, brings along something totally new: For the first time, the SNFCC has commissioned emerging and renowned artists to produce music specifically for the Center’s events and proposes sounds and tunes that will start their journey from here.

On 21 March, we celebrate World Poetry Day by remembering that poetry can be found everywhere, with a unique live concert featuring covers of songs by writers whose lyrics are pure poetry.

A few days later, on 25 March, the Schooligans and the SNFCC invite you to a fresh reading of traditional Greek music and songs, encompassing the music history of the last two hundred years. On the same day, workshops for children and adults, as well as a unique lecture by Manos Stefanidis, explore different aspects of the Greek War of Independence.

Yet, the music doesn’t stop there. On the first three Saturdays of March, Music Escapades return to the SNFCC – this month, presenting the current music projects of artists who left their mark on the Greek electronic music scene in the 1990s.

The groundbreaking music-education program El Sistema – a tremendous success worldwide – will also be featured at the SNFCC for the first time in March.

You, too, can create your own music at the SNFCC: A piano will be at your disposal in the Lighthouse – come and play!

Finally, Yiorgis Yerolymbos, whose photos trace the SNFCC’s journey to completion, will be presenting his large-format photography book Orthographs on 30/3.

March marks an important step in the transition of the Greek National Opera and the National Library of Greece to their new homes. Their exciting, important events will augment the Stavros Niarchos Park and SNFCC’s own events, spanning the entire spectrum of learning, culture, wellness and recreation activities that the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center is committed to providing to everyone.

All sporting, educational and cultural events and activities taking place at the SNFCC are free of charge thanks to the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. This gives visitors from Greece and around the world the opportunity to get to know the SNFCC and its facilities, enjoy its surroundings and get introduced to the breadth of its programming potential and its role as an urban destination.

Plan your visit

| Winter opening hours of the SNFCC are: Stavros Niarchos Park 06.00-20.00, Agora, Lighthouse, Running Track 06.00-00.00, Visitors Center 09.00-22.00. For the immediate convenience of visitors, canteens operate temporarily in the outdoors areas of the SNFCC. At a later time, a restaurant and café will operate on a permanent basis.

| Pets can enter all outdoor spaces only accompanied by their owner, who must keep them under their supervision at all times during their stay within the premises and clean up after them. Pets are not allowed at the Great Lawn, the Labyrinth and the children’s playgrounds.

| All playgrounds will start operating after the necessary permits have been secured. The necessary actions are already underway. Meanwhile, visitors will have direct access from the SNFCC to the playground of the Sports and Recreation Park of the Municipality of Kallithea, which is adjacent to the SNFCC. The Municipal Park was designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, architect of the SNFCC, and was completed with an exclusive grant by the SNF.

| Every Monday and Tuesday, the Great Lawn and every Wednesday and Thursday, the Labyrinth will not be accessible. The Stavros Niarchos Park is intended to reflect the rich diversity of indigenous Greek and Mediterranean plants, and to promote landscape qualities, seasonal changes and sustainable maintenance practices. Creating a healthy soil ecosystem in areas of lawn is one of the key points for healthy plants and viable growth. Resting periods are essential for a healthy and vigorous lawn. Thank you for your understanding!

| Based on the relevant Directive regarding the LEED Certification, which the SNFCC has received, smoking is prohibited in all indoors areas of the SNFCC, as well as within a distance of 8 m from all entrances. In all other open spaces of the SNFCC, smoking is not prohibited. However, respect for the environment and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle remain key values on which the SNFCC was conceived. In this context, we encourage visitors to enjoy the Park without smoking during their stay. If visitors wish to smoke, we kindly ask that they respect the space and use the floor ashtrays that have been placed in the area.

The SNFCC premises, including the parking area, are accessible to wheelchair users and people with kinetic disabilities. For more information please click here.
