On the day of the Winter Solstice, Saturday, December 21st, at 12:00 pm, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is hosting an open event of literature and art at the main reading room of the National Library of Greece (NLG), in collaboration with renowned Greek artists.
Giorgos Gallos, Stefania Goulioti, Dimitris Imellos, Alexia Kaltsiki, Eva Manidaki, Amalia Moutousi, Dimitris Piatas and Maria Skoula will take over the historical reading room of the NLG to read excerpts from their favorite books, and to join the audience in an open dialogue on culture’s role as a vehicle to a better and more hopeful tomorrow. Ioannis Trohopoulos, CEO and Managing Director of the SNFCC, Stavros Zoumboulakis, President of the Board of Trustees of the National Library of Greece, and Myron Michailidis, Artistic Director of the National Opera of Greece will participate as well.
The Winter Solstice symbolizes rebirth, renewal and spiritual regeneration. The SNFCC invites the public to the reading room of the NLG, in order to embark upon a joint journey to the future, where art and literature will become an integral part of people’s everyday life.
The “Journey to the SNFCC” Program is carried out by the SNFCC in conjunction with the GNO and the NLG, through an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
