MAY 2022 SEMINAR
Art in the Classroom: “Spider, why spider?” – A journal of ideas inspired by a giant “Mother”; for teachers of primary and secondary education.
Seminar Description:
“All my work of the past fifty years, all my themes, are inspired by my childhood. You see, my childhood never lost its magic, never lost its mystery, and never lost… its drama.” L. B.
Browsing through the life and work of Louise Bourgeois, this online workshop introduces us to one of the most important artists of the past 100 years, through photos, audio narratives and original documentation, starting with Christmas 1911 when Louise, or Louisette, came to this world.
At the same time, the webinar proposes activities and visual arts games that can be implemented in school teams of primary and secondary school, centering on our relationship to motherhood, memories, fears and dreams.
In the end, we turn on the tape recorder—a favorite journal-keeping medium of Louise Bourgeois—and answer the question she asks of us: “Spider, why spider?”
