Smile, and the world will smile with you…
For the fifth summer running, the much-loved SNFCC program Park Your Cinema brings the visitors of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center a selection of classic movies, to either discover for the first time, or enjoy anew on the big screen.
August’s projections at the SNFCC’s Great Lawn continue along the theme of laugh-out-loud comedy. From a glamorous cruise in search of a rich husband to the craziest car race of the early 20th century, you will enjoy Hollywood’s best offerings of the last few decades, with an all-star cast of our most beloved performers of all time. A magical escape from reality that only the cinema can bring to life.
Program Coordinator: Ilias Frangoulis
Dr. Strangelove (1964): Plot
A mad general of the US Air Force, convinced that the Soviets are planning to poison the American populace though the… fluoridation of their water supply, orders a nuclear attack against the USSR! Will the politicians and military leaders of the two opposing sides manage to reach an understanding and avoid a nuclear holocaust? The classic black comedy and relentless satire of the Cold War was nominated for four Academy Awards, and became a massive hit, mostly because of the appearance of Peter Sellers in… three (truly unforgettable) roles!
Director: Stanley Kubrick
