Members Events | Collage and Literature Workshop: From page to page, from poetry to collage - Εικόνα

The way hero figures are portrayed and the changes they undergo in contemporary poetry and literature will serve as our inspiration to discover the world of collage.

We will explore the history and variations of the technique of collage, from China and the invention of paper 2,000 years ago, up until the present day.

We will pay particular attention to the experimentations of Dada, Braque and Picasso, Pollock, and Wagenschi Mutu and Yinka Shonibare.

In this workshop, our Members will follow the transition from the romantic hero to the subverted hero of the modern age, drawing inspiration from Raine Maria Rilke’s Sixth Elegy, the works of Camille Claudel and Rodin, and the collages of the cubists.

We will create a new collage-poem, juxtaposing contrasting images to illustrate the freedom of the spirit.
