A tribute to the Greek jazz scene, the concert series, ‘Jazz Chronicles’ continues on its journey, recommending sounds old and new, funk and classical rhythms, and orchestral and vocal arrangements. ‘Jazz Chronicles’ illustrates different renditions of the free musical idiom in the Greek space and renews its weekly appointment at the SNFCC.
In the aftermath of the 2015 Blue Passion album, which featured some of the most important soloists of the Greek jazz scene and was proclaimed 'best Greek jazz album of 2015', the George Spanos Trio take their relationship with their audience to a deeper level. The first part, dedicated to Blue Passion, features recorded narrations by Emilios Chilakis of texts written by Aggelos Yerondas. In the second part, the group takes on daring adaptations of jazz standards, classic rock hits, and Greek repertoire. B. Cobham, L. Cohen, C. Santana, T. Puente, P. Desmond, A. Piazzolla, M. Davis, V. Morrison, H. Hancock, Led Zeppelin, The Doors et al. meet on stage with A. Kaldaras, M. Chiotis, M. Chadzidakis, balancing between entertainment, surprise and musical subversion.
