Introduction to Wine Tasting with the WSPC | For beginners

The SNFCC Membership Program collaborates with the Wine & Spirits Professional Center (WSPC) in Greece – a Certified Educational Organisation by the National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications and Professional Orientation (E.O.P.P.E.P.), that provides thorough and certified training in wines and spirits – offering a cycle of three wine tasting workshops, exclusively to SNFCC members and their guest. The meetings will take place in the months of May, June and July 2023 at the SNFCC and at the WSPC premises in Faliro.

Members will be able to attend the following three training modules. Those interested can proceed to book either selected meetings, or the entire cycle.

1st meeting – Food & Wine matching for Beginners

Theory:

• Decoding the Label: Are you worried that you didn't select the right wine for the occasion? Discover how to read a wine label correctly and gain the confidence needed to select the appropriate bottle.

• The Fundamentals for Food and Wine Matching: Discover how the fundamentals of food – acidity, saltiness, sweetness – affect the taste of wine. Obtain the skillset needed to make balanced combinations that will help you in your everyday life.

Tasting:

• Tasting of 6 wines

2nd meeting - Wine Production & Aging for Beginners

Theory:

• From Vine to Glass: Do you want to learn more about wine and don't know where to start? In this module you will learn the basic principles of tasting.

• Mastering Maturation: Have you ever thought why a Xinomavro can have such a different taste compared to another wine of the same variety? Or why a glass of Chardonnay may leave a creamy sensation in the mouth? Learn how wine is affected by staying in barrels or ageing in the bottle.

Tasting:

• Tasting of 6 wines

3rd meeting - Coffee, Cocoa, Tea, Wine & Spirits Pairing

Theory:

• Embark on an unforgettable journey in the world of wine, spirits, coffee, cocoa and tea. Discover their similarities and associations, through tastings and pairings with selected delicacies.

Tasting:

• Tasting of 3 wines, 3 spirits, 3 cocoa, 1 coffee and 1 tea

Special dixcount cost for Members/workshop: €26* (normal value €46)

Each member can register through the site from the corresponding link of each meeting. They may select a number of tickets to include their guest, and then pay either via bank deposit or credit/debit card.

A few days before each meeting, each participant will receive a confirmation email of their reservation containing all the information (date, time and location).

The workshops will be held in Greek.
