Giorgis Manolakis - Couleur Locale

A leading Cretan lyra player, Giorgis Manolakis goes on stage on the Great Lawn for this year’s inaugural Parklife concert, alongside Couleur Locale, in dazzling experimentations inspired by the traditional music of Crete. This unique ensemble seeks to carry the Cretan musical legacy into the future by introducing world, rock and jazz music elements.

We first met Giorgis Manolakis with Hainides and Psarantonis; today, he regularly works with Ross Daly, Vassilis Stavrakakis and other important artists, while also pursuing his own personal projects. The music of Couleur Locale revolves around Giorgis Manolakis’ original compositions, enriched by his improvisation on the acoustic and electric laouto and augmented by the powerful rhythm section of Nikolas Christopoulos (drums) and Yannis Kapetanakis (double bass).
