Prompted by Jannis Psychopedis’s exhibition currently on view at the SNFCC, the series of lectures focusing on major Greek poets and their work continues at the SNFCC, through the eyes of a different distinguished speaker each month.

Nasos Vagenas talks about Andreas Kalvos

In December, Nasos Vagenas will discuss Andreas Kalvos’s Odes. During his lecture, he will pursue links between the composition of Odes and the turning points in Kalvos’s life, the interplay between these poems and his poems written in Italian, as well as the shift in how Odes have been received, from 1824 to date. Special consideration will be given to the fairly recent discovery of the “Italian Poet” Kalvos.

Nasos Vagenas is Professor Emeritus, Literary Theory and Criticism, Department of Theater Studies, University of Athens. His publications include 13 poetry collections, a book of prose, and 10 books of literary essays and reviews.
