This year’s Clean Monday, let’s celebrate Koulouma together, with traditional kite flying, customs from all over Greece and the sounds of traditional music.
Visitors to the Park also have the opportunity to enjoy the revival of two customs, in cooperation with the Municipality of Kallithea. The Momoyeroi Society for the Protection and Dissemination of the Greek Cultural Heritage revives Yenitsaroi and Boules, an age-old carnival custom from Naoussa, in Northern Greece; Orchestral Art Cultural Society, named “Bacchae” presents Bey, another custom from Northern Greece, whose roots go back to the period of Ottoman rule. These cultural heritage events will unfold on a carnival route to and from the Kallithea Municipal Park.
Vassiliki Karakosta
On the day of the year when kites fly in the sky, Vassiliki Karakosta awaits us at Stavros Niarchos Park, along with a group of outstanding musicians, to sing, straight from the heart, songs from all over Greece that remain unchanged in collective memory.
Vassiliki Karakosta has established V-concerts, featuring Greek classical folk music. On Clean Monday, she takes us along on a journey to Greece through traditional songs and lyrics, rhythms and melodies that she brings to life with her unique interpretation.
