A tribute to the Greek jazz scene, the concert series, ‘Jazz Chronicles’ continues on its journey, recommending sounds old and new, funk and classical rhythms, and orchestral and vocal arrangements. ‘Jazz Chronicles’ illustrates different renditions of the free musical idiom in the Greek space and renews its weekly appointment at the SNFCC.
The term Singularity derives from the astrophysics and describes a state where an enormous mass of matter aggregates at a point with almost nil volume. Similarly, the five musicians who form the group meet to create an essential unit that has been divested of everything unnecessary. The repertoire is made up of original compositions by Vangelis Raptopoulos, and was written and adapted specifically for the group. The various influences of each member create a collage of elements from modern jazz and fusion, to rock and afro-Cuban.
