Set against the backdrop of Las Vegas in the ‘70s and the Nevada desert, writer/journalist Hunter S. Thompson (Raoul Duke in the film) guides us through the most psychedelic road trip in the history of cinema, based on Thomson’s autobiographical novel of the same name about a desperate search for the ‘American Dream’ that was almost never… sober.

Although Thompson himself maintained good relations with Johnny Depp (who impersonated him) during filming, he later said that if he ever witnessed another actor performing like that, he would hit them on the head with a chair!

In the past, Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone had attempted to shoot the film, due to their love for this era and… psychedelia.
