This summer, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center inaugurates a bond with the Athenian cinéfil culture, for a series of weekly screenings of classical films. At the first Park Your Cinema, the cinematic choices are based on vintage works, which have helped establish an entertainment tradition of reissues of classical films at Athenian outdoor movie theaters. From the ‘30s to the early ‘70s, the films, screened in a chronological order, apply to the mythology of global filmography; movies which have been loved over and over again, screened under the Athenian sky. The potential ‘’location’’ of these screenings is flexible, since the SNFCC offers various alternatives for ‘’parking’’ an outdoor movie theater!

Charade (1968)
Director: Stanley Donen
A woman is pursued by her dead husband’s associates, who want to retrieve the loot from a heist they pulled together, a loot which the deceased never intended to share. One of these associates is, perhaps, the husband’s killer. An excellent combination of the suspense thriller, romance and comedy genres, the movie is a perfect example of quality entertainment cinema, with a stellar cast (Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant) and the city of Paris playing a leading role in a plot, which truly captivates the audience. For the movie’s theme song, Henry Mancini received yet another Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
The screening will take place on the lawn. It is advised to bring along a beach mat, a blanket or another type of fabric to sit on.
