Parklife | Yasmin Levy - Εικόνα

The daughter of Turkish immigrants of Sephardic origins, Levy became widely known for her modernizing remakes of Ladino songs (medieval songs in the Judeo-Spanish language) mixed with flamenco and traditional Turkish music elements. The outcome is a brand-new entry in world music, which she has been serving for over 15 years and which has turned her into an international star. Levy has been hugely successful, with over 120 million YouTube viewings of her songs, encomiastic reviews in the world’s most prestigious media outlets, and TV appearances on both sides of the Atlantic. A high point in her career was the album Mano Suave, which was released in 2007 but remained in the top 10 of the World Music Charts and Spotify’s Viral 50 playlist in various countries up to 2021. Her latest big hit was a dance remix of the song “La Allegria,” while her discography also includes “Nací en Álamo,” a remake of a 1990 original composition by Dionysis Tsaknis. Notably, Levy is also a Goodwill Ambassador of “Children of Peace,” an organization helping children suffering from conflict in the Middle East.
