Μembers’ Meetup: Savors and Aromas | A poem begins in delight and ends in wisdom - Εικόνα

Robert Frost

« They felt a strong attraction for this angelic human being, something was pulling them hard towards it, a wave was dragging them there, a wave that no one could resist, because it was the will of human nature that forced them to proceed»

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       “Perfume” - Patrick Süskind

Smell and Taste are associated with essential functions to our survival: breathing and food intake. They are chemical senses and are often called "sisters", as they are interconnected. Based on these senses we perceive and class our experiences, within the continuum defined by the attraction and repression extremes. Especially, the information we receive through Smell, is recorded in a part of our brain, connected to emotions, and are the oldest memories we are able recall, as well as the last to be forgotten.

This March at the Members’ Meetup, we will plumb the depths of our personal moments concerning the Senses, from attraction to repression, the emotions we associate with olfactory and taste experiences, as they include the past (e.g., the word for tasty in greek is “nostimos”, deriving from “Nostos” and associated to nostalgia), and the future (e.g., I have an appetite for something meaning I’m up for doing something), within the Now. We will experiment and feel the subjective definition of Pleasure.
