On Friday, April 23, the Sports Excellence Center, which operates under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopedic Clinic of the Medical school of Athens, in partnership with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), presents a panel discussion of the topic “Olympic Games 2021 - Challenges of a new era”, transmitting live from the SNFCC Book Castle.
The discussion will open with the challenges facing countries as they prepare for such a major undertaking, as well as the extent to which the next Olympic Games will be safe, in conjunction with the conditions under which they will be held. Moreover, we will discuss the symbolic dimensions of the Olympic ideals and consider whether they are in crisis. Could the Olympic flame persist as a timeless symbol of light, spirit, knowledge and life? How does the institutional framework of Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, is associated with the context of world sports?
The event is coordinated by the “Regeneration & Progress” NGO and realized thanks to an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
