Sculpture Workshop: My artwork on SNFCC grounds - Εικόνα

How does a sculpture converse with its surroundings? What is the relationship between sculpture and architecture? What is art’s role in public space?

This workshop for children aims at studying works of sculpture by several artists who have been presented at the SNFCC (indicatively: Sophia Vari, George Zongolopoulos, Jannis Psychopedis, Georgios Xenos, Takis), in order to help participants understand the special qualities that make a piece of art “work” in the space where it is exhibited. Inspired by the themes these works deal with, the shapes they capture, the forms they use and other features, children will be led to imagine and design a work of their own, which may be exhibited at a specific space on the Culture Center’s grounds. They will then produce a scaled version of their sculpture and, using digital media, they will be able to see how it could be integrated into that space. Thus, at the end of the workshop, participants will have created their own artwork and will be able to see it in a digital image in the premises of the SNFCC.

Design-implementation: Vassilis Gerodimos, visual artist
Workshop support: Konstantinos Zves, architect
