Christmas is always a perfect opportunity to get together, share heartwarming experiences and celebrate in a unique culinary event, exclusively designed for SNFCC Members, at the coziest spot in the city, complemented by live jazz tunes.

On Tuesday, December 20, we renew our appointment at Delta Restaurant, now awarded two Michelin stars and one Michelin Green Star, for a unique festive gastronomic experience. This year, Delta wished to offer SNFCC Members a selection from its main menu which reflects its values, while also providing a creative and philosophical culinary experience.

Thus, this year’s menu has been exclusively curated by the restaurant’s resident chefs, Thanos Feskos and George Papazacharias, so that we may try handpicked dishes accompanied by a fine selection of wines, food-and-wine-pairing style.

The Evening’s Menu & Wine Pairing:

1st dish:

  • Sea anemones served with soft  bread and creamy aged fish roe
  • Soft lobster claw, seasoned with grilled peaches and served with clementine and our homemade yoghurt

Accompanied by: Akakies sparkling wine, Xinomavro, Kir-Yianni Estate, Amyntaio

2nd dish:

  • Cod poached in citrus oil and served with grilled plums, damson and a creamy sauce of clams and spruce.

Accompanied by: Plagios, Vivlia Chora Estate, Chardonnay (magnum bottle)

3rd dish:

  • Duck confit passed through the flames, served with chard, grilled fermented cherries and a sauce made from the “surface” of the forest

Accompanied by: Naoussa, Xinomavro, Boutari Winery

Dessert:

  • Crispy edible butterfly served with bee pollen crème angles and ice cream from grape must and fermented milk

Accompanied by: Muscat Rio Patras, Parparoussis Winery

The evening will be set against Christmassy jazz tunes by musical duo Yiannis Kassetas (saxophone) and Apostolos Leventopoulos (guitar).

A few words about musicians Yiannis Kassetas and Apostolos Leventopoulos:

The duo of Yiannis Kassetas and Apostolos Leventopoulos performs classic jazz tunes from the 1940s and 1950s heyday of jazz music. The two musicians met in Boston, where they were studying at Berklee College of Music, and have since collaborated on numerous albums (Funkabyss, Northern Light, etc.). Their love of jazz and blues helps them communicate to their audience a warm and zesty sound.

Delta Restaurant was created at the initiative and grant of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), in order to serve as a model culinary destination worthy of the high standards of the SNFCC, while at the same time showcasing Greek cuisine to a worldwide audience. Delta Restaurant was awarded the Restaurant & Bar Design Award 2022 in the category “Europe – In Another Space.” In September 2022, after nearly 1 year of operation, it managed to earn two MICHELIN stars and one MICHELIN Green Star.
