Greek National Opera: Exclusive seats for SNFCC Members at the Open Dress Rehearsal of the ballet Don Quixote - Εικόνα

The Greek National Opera Ballet is presenting an ambitious new production of Ludwig Minkus’s Don Quixote, one of the most celebrated pieces of the classical ballet repertoire. Two days before the official opening night, SNFCC Members will have the opportunity to attend, free of charge, the show’s open dress rehearsal.

Don Quixote is one of the most remarkable and popular pieces of the classical ballet repertoire. Unfolding along Minkus’s unique musical composition, the choreography tells the timelessly moving story of the high ideals of chivalry, combining comical and romantic elements. The ballet Don Quixote is based on episodes from Miguel de Cervantes’s (1547–1616) famous novel of the same name, which was published in two volumes, in 1605 and 1615 respectively. The ballet’s plot draws mainly from the second volume and focuses on the tempestuous love affair between Quiteria –Kittri in the ballet– and Basilio. The adventures of Don Quixote and his squire Sancho Panza are kept in the background.
For this new production of Don Quixote, Greek National Opera Ballet Director Konstantinos Rigos is collaborating with artists of international caliber — choreographer Thiago Bordin, conductor Stathis Soulis, world-renowned Greek set designer George Souglides, and fashion designer Mary Katrantzou for the show’s costumes. Alongside them, Eirini Vianelli has designed the show’s animation and Christos Tziogkas is responsible for the lighting.
