The silverberry (Elaeagnus Pungens) is an evergreen shrub of the Oleaster family (Elaeagnaceae). It features all the familiar characteristics of the Mediterranean flora — it is a low-maintenance plant, with low tolerance for shade and high tolerance for drought.

The Strawberry Tree (Arbutus Unedo), or Koumariá in Greek, is an evergreen shrub or tree, native to the Mediterranean region but also present in other European countries (e.g. Ireland), as well as in certain parts of America (e.g. Oregon) as a non-native plant. Like most of the plants and trees at Stavros Niarchos Park, Koumariá is a medicinal-aromatic plant.
This month, Mastic, or lentisk, scents our stroll around Stavros Niarchos Park with its resinous, spicy aroma, evoking memories of Mediterranean landscapes and hikes across the arid, rocky islands of Greece.
Every July, the visitors of the SNFCC park come across a sea full of blooming lavender.
At the beginning of every summer, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center is surrounded by flowering Oleanders, forming an impressive colorful fence.

Taking a walk in the Mediterranean Garden, the visitor's eye is immediately caught by bushes with vivid red colored fruits, and thorny branches, so strongly attached to each other, that they shape a net.
At the Mediterranean Garden, the Western Walks, the Green Roofs, the Esplanada, wherever one looks at the SNFCC, one finds a Rosemary plethora.
Although February still feels a bit cold, Spring is around the corner. The Almond trees in the Mediterranean Garden and alongside the SNFCC Bike Lane are blooming and compose a unique spring scenery.
Although very few plants can grow on a lighthouse, at the SNFCC Lighthouse the English Ivy does pretty well, as you can see above!
Τhis December, once again, the SNFCC Christmas world comes alive and the lit up plane trees across the Canal, mark the beginning of the festive season. What about a stroll around the Canal, to admire and take pictures of the plane trees, which are beautifully reflected in the water and overflow with joy our young and older visitors.
One who visits the SNFCC can meet the beauty of a European olive in the Mediterranean Garden, in the Great Lawn, in the Western Paths but also in the Rear Agora.
Taking our autumn walk on the Western paths of the Stavros Niarchos Park, our gaze will meet the fruit-bearing pomegranates.
We pass by the Mediterranean Garden and the northern entrance of the Stavros Niarchos Park and we stand to notice the Sea Squill (Drimia Maritima).
