On Sunday, January 8, marking what would have been the birthday of the late David Bowie, the SNFCC Agora is welcoming the Heroes tribute band, the first multi-member Greek band to pay tribute to this iconic artist, in a performance that will showcase all his musical eras in chronological order.
Heroes is the only tribute band that features various different singers, as each performer captures a particular point in time, or a particular period, of David Bowie’s prolific oeuvre.
The band was formed around 6 years ago, following the artist’s death, and already boasts a track record of great live performances. The first of them was held in 2016, under the auspices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, in order to raise funds for humanitarian aid to refugees. Since then, the band has taken part in several tribute concerts, attracting large audiences and earning enthusiastic reviews.
From “Space Oddity” (1969) to “Blackstar” (2016), Bowie left an indelible mark on the arts scene, through milestone tracks and emblematic albums. A challenging task which he achieved through ongoing exploration, improvisation and innovation.
