This August, exclusively for the SNFCC Members, the Cinobo curatorial team has selected four summer films, which promise to turn our houses into a summer cinema!

This summer, we dive into the magic of cinema!

A bigger Splash

Few know how to film bright, sunny passions with as much seduction as Luca Guantanino, especially when Tilda Swindon is starring as a rock star and Ralph Fiennes as her ex. “Volcanic” sensuality and thriller wise seduction.

Summary: A famous rock legend and her filmmaker partner are recuperating under the idyllic sun-drenched and remote Italian island of Pantelleria, after she had a surgery on her vocal cords. Their relaxing moments are disrupted by the unexpected visit of an old friend and lover, who is shouting and annoying, accompanied by his daughter. The two newcomers will stir up a whirlwind of jealousy and passion with unexpected results.

 Green Sea

Based on Eugenia’s Fakinou novel "To see the sea" and with an exceptional starring duo (Angeliki Papoulia, Giannis Tsortekis), the film by Angeliki Antoniou is a unique and an excellently structured drama of characters that tenderly comments on the need for human communication.

Summary: Anna, a mysterious woman with her memory lost, struggles to reconnect with her past. In the kitchen of the lonely tavern “Roula” near the port, she finds refuge between the smells of spices and old recipes. Her cooking awakens her memories and heals her. The guests’ warm embrace and love help her to start a new life, until Roula discovers Anna's true identity…

Dolphin Man

The man, the dreams, and the sea. Combining a rare archival film with modern underwater shots, Lefteris Charitos' impressively human documentary connects free diving in the ocean with a journey into the depths of ourselves through the portrait of the dolphin man Jacques Mayol.

Summary: The story of the free diving legend, Jacques Mayol, whose life inspired Lik Besson's favorite movie "Infinite Blue". Dolphin Man draws us into the world of Jacques Mayol, capturing his compelling journey and immersing viewers into the sensory and transformative experience of free diving. The film interweaves riveting footage from the seabed, with testimonies and stories from Mayol's closest people, along with rare archival material, forming the portrait of the dolphin man’s inner self.

A Summer’s Tale

The third part of Rohmer's "4 Seasons-Cycle" is dedicated to the summer, meaning the season that became synonymous with Romer's work, and is full of youth, carelessness and ... emotional confusion.

Summary: An indecisive math student waits for his girlfriend to spend their summer vacation together. His acquaintance, however, with two other girls will complicate things.
